Ott’s Off Leash Dog Sanctuary
Dr. Hal Ott, long time local veterinarian and owner of Ruskin Animal Hospital and Cat Clinic, saw a need for an off leash dog park in southern Hillsborough County. In April 2004 he purchased 3.75 acres of land in Ruskin to answer this community need. Conversion of the land to a dog park was completed and the gates were opened to the public in November 2004. In 2006 Dr. Ott purchased two additional adjoining acres. They were cleared, filled and fenced to provide an exclusive, safe, small dog park. In 2007 another .35 acres were added. If and when adjoining property becomes available it is hoped that the park can continue to grow to meet the needs of the expanding dog and pet owner population.
The Sanctuary mission is to provide an open area of natural beauty for both dogs to play and those who love animals to gather for relaxation and exercise, while enjoying serenity within the spirit of love and peace.
