Wildlife Rescue Coalition of Northeast Florida, Inc. (WRCNEF)
The Wildlife Rescue Coalition of Northeast Florida, Inc. (WRCNEF) is comprised of citizens, volunteers, experts, rehabilitators, veterinarians, and wildlife advocates. These supporters came together from a realization that there was no other organization in northeast Florida that cared for injured wildlife.
Since its beginnings in 2003, the WRCNEF has expanded to serve Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns, and Putnam counties. Each year, between 1,500 and 2,000 wild animals are rescued and during the summer months as many as 300 wild animals may be housed at the center undergoing rehabilitation or in foster care with WRCNEF volunteers. The WCRNEF receives no funding from the city, county, state, or federal sources.
Our Mission
To ensure respect for all wildlife through education and conservation, while providing orphaned, injured and displaced animals with a second chance at life.
Our Goal
Our goal as a Wildlife Rescue Organization is to educate the public as well as treat and rehabilitate wildlife.
Our Ultimate Goal
To open an educational center that will allow kids of all ages to come and learn about and appreciate wildlife. This center would enable us to reach out and educate the Jacksonville community by participating with local schools and organizations. The information that we could share through this facility would create awareness about the need to live in harmony with nature to children and adults who may not have had the opportunity to experience wildlife in their everyday lives. We hope that with the addition of an educational center, we can inspire new people, like you, to become volunteers, members, rehabilitators, and sponsors of our organization.
