Society For Animal Rescue and Adoption
A Unique Shelter for All Animals
Nestled in the beautiful green pastures and wooded scrub brush of picturesque Guadalupe County, Society for Animal Rescue & Adoption, or SARA, is home to nearly 750 rescued animals of all kinds. Created in March of 1996, SARA is celebrating over 20 years of hard work, rescue, and dedication to those who have no voice of their own.
Come out and breathe the fresh country air and spend the day volunteering and getting to know our animal friends. Meet the donkeys and horses, hang out with friendly pigs, take a nature hike and you’re likely to see many different kinds of wildlife and migratory birds. Get up close and personal with our happy cows, or do all of the above!
SARA has many wonderful dogs and cats just waiting for that forever home. Warning, you may leave with a new best friend!
We are located between Austin and San Antonio, just outside of nearby Seguin and rely upon your tax-deductible charitable donations to operate. We receive no government support.
Visitors are welcome by appointment. Please contact us to schedule a time to come out and share a wonderful experience you’re not likely to forget.
Our Mission
SARA helps any animal that comes to us regardless of species, special health needs, or temperament. As a no-kill sanctuary, no animal is ever killed for convenience. Euthanasia is only employed in the true sense of the word: when an animal is suffering with no chance of recovery.
