Hernando County Animal Services works closely with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office to enforce local animal ordinances and state humane laws, provides dog licensing, animal sheltering and care and adoption services for the county. Animal Services Officers with the Sheriff's Office are authorized to investigate possible animal related law violations and take appropriate enforcement action. Each year the officers conduct hundreds of investigations, and issue citations.
