Family Dog Rescue was started in January, 2010. A lot of rescues and shelters will not adopt dogs to families with children under 14 years old. We think it is important for children to grow up with animals and we are saving animals' lives too! Coming from the Bay Area we realize that the term "family" can mean many things; by no means do we restrict our adoptions to people with children or those in so called “traditional” families.

The purpose of the group is to save family-friendly dogs from California's high-kill shelters and place them with suitable families. All dogs will be carefully screened for good behavior and will receive proper veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations, before being matched with appropriate adopters. The group will also provide sanctuary to a limited number of sick and/or under socialized dogs.
