Almost Home Humane Society
The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors. We are not funded by any government or national animal welfare organization.
Who we are
The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS, formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its inception more than 70 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.
We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization and we are not a United Way Agency. We accept all stray animals in need, regardless of age, health, or adoptability from the Lafayette and West Lafayette jurisdictions. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.
Mission
We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost and neglected animals.
Vision
We aspire to be part of a community in which the supply and demand of pets would be balanced. One where our services would only be needed for education, adoptions, and recovery of lost animals, with limited euthanasia for infirm animals.
