Healing Your Dogs of Skin Issues, Yeast Infections & More

Let’s face it, we want our dogs to always look something like this:

But, sometimes, we have different issues to overcome with our beloved four legged friends…

A Middle School teacher who I was and am still very fond of recently told me about a horrible yeast infection her pack of dogs was enduring.  She told me that she has tried just about everything she could including borax on their skin and coats, apple cider vinegar and other do it yourself, home remedies all to no avail. 

Sometimes our dogs have issues like this:

Well, it was like déjà vu for me considering the fact that about five years ago I had the same two year bout with a similar problem with my two little Schipperke dogs.  To give an example of what I had been through, I have included an excerpt from my book, An Inspired Tale:

“I learned a hard lesson when I found out I had MRSA upon a checkup and lab results saying it was MRSA. Before going to see the doctor and confirming the virus, my dogs licked my open wound and both contracted the MRSA virus. My dogs and I lived with this virus for two years. I tried prescribed antibiotics for both me and the dogs from my physicians and the dogs’ veterinarians to no avail.

I tried oil of oregano, turmeric, tea tree oil, shoot I even had my mom tape some bacon to my body. I ran Epsom salt baths and everything I could find to try to get rid of thissuperbug. After two years of dealing with this, I eventually healed myself and my dogs of MRSA…” 

Now, in the book I eventually get to how I did it, but for efficiency’s sake, I will get to the point.  I used flax hull seed lignans.  I know that there are claims- and very well could be -of many anti viral, anti fungal and anti bacterial components to various produce/products including oil of oregano, coconut oil, colloidal silver, etc.  But, the only thing that I know for a fact that actually worked after literally spending thousands of dollars on the all natural products just listed, was this: Boomer Lignans

 I gave about an eight of a teaspoon of the Boomer Lignans with some coconut oil, or grapeseed oil with some of their treats, or a piece of turkey, etc. in a small dessert dish in the morning and then again later in the day.  I usually gave them some yogurt as well to enhance their good digestive enzymes and nutrient absorption ability and some pet probiotics.

After about a month of doing this, the MRSA was eradicated.  I was so relieved, as you can imagine.  I also did this for myself by the way, but we are here on petfriendlysites.com to discuss pets, right?  🙂

Getting back to the topics at hand, yeast infections, dermatitis, virus, bacteria, and fungus remedies, I have to provide one more anecdote.  A friend of mine who’s 14 year old Pomeranian dog named Zach had a serious case of dermatitis.  That little dog was fluffy in the front and all bald in the back.  It looked like a washed up miniature male Lion.  I wish I took a picture to be able to show you how bad this poor dog had dermatitis.  It looked something like this:

Anyway, this little dog’s owner asked me if I knew of anything that could help her to treat her dog’s dermatitis.  She had tried everything from Omega fatty acids, fish oils, coconut oils, aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, etc.  Because she was a friend here in St Petersburg that I often walked my dogs with, I gave her a small supply of flax hull lignans and told her to give her dog the regimen I listed previously in this article.

Within a week that little rascal had it’s hair restored all the way to it’s bum.  Two weeks later it’s tail was filled with hair and he was running around like he was the little Pomeranian “Lion” he used to be.
