The brave men and women of the Stockton Fire Department released remarkable footage on Sunday, depicting not only the regular dangers of their profession, but the joys — as they rescued a trapped dog, in serious danger as flames approached.

The residence was engulfed in flames as the crews arrived. Smoke was thick. The heat had blown the windows out, which offered a rare glimpse at what firefighters must deal with in structure fires.

The firefighters discover the kenneled dog at about 6 minutes in. It was rescued without incident after the nearby fire was extinguished and didn’t sustain any injuries in the blaze.

Columbus firefighters helped bring a dog back to life yesterday after he was pulled from a smoky house fire.

Neighbor Todd Buccilla came outside to see what was going on: “I seen the house was on fire and smoke and I seen a dog laying on the front porch,” he told NBC4 reporters. “He was just limp.”

Buccilla took dramatic video as firefighters worked to revive Max.

“I just started filming where they did CPR on the dog and after a few minutes you could see the dog started coming around. I mean he was pretty much gone it looked like.”

Max’s story has a happy ending. After being given oxygen and revived from unconsiousness, paramedics started an IV and took him to a local vet.

No others were hurt in the fire.

The firefighters hadn’t yet arrived on scene, but that didn’t stop Officer Jacob Moore from springing into action. And it was all caught on the Buena Vista policeman’s body camera.

He and other officers arrived at the blazing home in Buena Vista, VA, and learned that the family dog, Zoey, was still inside. He entered the house — all while portions of it were burning — and went room to room to find her.

Spooked, she had retreated to her dog bed in one of the home’s bedrooms, but she sure looked happy to see him when he arrived!

Not surprisingly, Moore was recognized last year as the department’s Officer of the Year. He retains this title in our book!

The fire was contained to the carport and garage; no injuries were reported.
