January seems to be the time of year that we all start thinking about losing some of those extra pounds.

But don’t fret. As hard as you can be on yourself, there are always others who are just a bit more pleasantly plump than you, and they’re here to help you feel better about yourself — like these pets.

1. This cat perfectly sums up the expression on our faces when we get out of the shower and just sit on the bed wondering how this happened.

2. Hedgehogs are lucky in a couple of ways: For one thing, they’re covered with spines to keep people away when they’re not feeling “people-y.” For another, all those spines make it tricky to tell if they’re puffed up on purpose or if it’s the result of too many snacks. I have hedgehog envy.

3. The face you make when your doctor tells you you need to cut back on the sweets, but sweets are your life.

4. If you really love carbs, you need to become carbs.

5. This chubby rabbit looks ready to fight anyone who mentions his expanded girth. Maybe we’ll just compliment him on his pretty coloring instead.

6. Got caught snacking when you’re supposed to be dieting, kitty? We can all relate.

7. This bulldog looks like he’s sitting down after a junk food binge and asking himself, “Why am I like this?” We all are, my friend.

8. Apparently animals find it just as difficult as we do to resist the lure of pizza. I feel you, bunny.

9. When you’re chubs but still cute as heck.

10. Sometimes we just need to resort to dragging out that one article of clothing that covers our belly rolls.

On a side note, if you think your pet is overweight, it’s time to start them on a weight loss journey of their own. They will feel better and live happier, healthier lives.

It’s that time of year again. We’re all spending some time examining our deeds for the past year and wondering if we’re going to fall on Santa’s nice list … or his naughty one.

Let’s face it: Nobody wants to be on the naughty list.

As I’m sure you know, that naughty-or-nice list applies to pets as well, and most pets’ exemplary behavior nets them a solid gold spot on the nice list.

But there are some pets — a very few — who end up on that naughty list. And they feel no shame about it.

1. Here’s one pet with behavior that Santa would find paw-sitively appalling.

2. This schnauzer took objection to the dining room chairs. So he destroyed them.

3. This turtle’s mom thought she had a girl turtle — until the turtle flashed her with undeniable proof of his manhood.

4. Don’t you hate it when your bearded dragon has no respect for your sleeping area?

5. I’m not even sure how he did it, but this cat knocked over the entire planter. His face says he’s not even sorry.

6. A tag team of troublemakers in this house.

7. These 2 pups refuse to be shamed … and had no problem eating pup-aganda.

8. Here we have a multitasker of naughtiness. This dog stood on top of an iPad, shattering it, all in his quest to reach and consume chocolate (which, of course, is toxic to dogs).

9. Here’s a pooch who doesn’t discriminate. Nothing in the house is safe.

10. Judging by the look on this bunny’s face, I’d have to agree that he’s completely not sorry. If I were his mom, I’d keep the bedroom door firmly closed from now on.

Christmas has come around again, and for most people it’s a joyous and happy holiday. And it’s a holiday that traditionally many celebrate with the addition of a beautifully decked-out tree.

Of course, this tree does require some maintenance — if you have a live tree and you don’t water it, for example, it’s a safe bet that by Christmas it will be a dead husk.

Other people have to do a bit more than water their trees, especially if they have pets.

Some pets are completely trustworthy around the temporary tree, but others … not so much. In fact, there are some pets who shouldn’t be trusted with a twig, let alone a tree.

Here are 10 pets you absolutely can’t trust anywhere near a Christmas tree.

1. These cats feel no shame in toppling their tree.

2. This bulldog’s humans got wise this year and just fenced off the entire tree area. The dog looks quite annoyed at having his nefarious plans thwarted.

3. This house has 2 plotting cats and 1 hapless tree. I hate to say it, but the way those cats are plotting, my money is on their victory.

4. When you get caught destroying the tree, always use the window as your first escape route.

5. This cat’s folks are so fed up, they didn’t even get a tree this year.

6. She’s not even sorry.

7. It’s hard to imagine how one little cat could cause so much destruction, but she looks pretty proud of herself.

8. The face your dog makes because she knows she’s adorable and no matter what, there’s still going to be presents with her name on them this year.

9. When you’re so intent on destruction that you fail to notice Mom behind you with her camera.

10. The expression on this dog’s face tells it all. As soon as her human walks away, that tree is history. “Make me wear this stupid headband? My revenge will be swift.”
